WEWEWEE MEMEME
In this body of work, I worked with Purgatory Pie Press to print letterpress over my risographs, which I then collaged to explore the intersection of language, pattern, and material.
Using the single letter “E” as a modular form, I rotate and repeat it so that it slips between legibility and abstraction, appearing alternately as an E, W, or M. This instability mirrors the shifting ground of my larger practice, where textiles, prints, and collages continually transform into one another.
Layered over densely patterned risograph prints, the letterpress blocks interrupt, frame, and restructure the underlying compositions. The repetition of “E” becomes both linguistic and ornamental: at once a fragment of text and a unit of pattern, a building block of language and of image. These works operate as both visual puzzles and material palimpsests, asking viewers to look again at the familiar—letters, patterns, prints—as sites of play, transformation, and reorientation.
